Overview
To set up leave that increases for each year of employee service, you can create your normal leave category and an additional category based on days of employment.
First, create the normal leave category for the standard number of days leave per year (eg for four weeks of leave, set this as 20 days per year).
You’ll then need to create extra leave categories for each additional year of employment, based on days of employment (such as ‘Extra Leave for One Year Service’).
You can set the ‘Days Worked Before Triggering’ in the leave category so that it won’t apply until an employee works for a specified number of days and the Entitlement value that should accrue.
Years of Service | Days Worked Before Triggering | Entitlement | |
---|---|---|---|
40 hour week | 38 hour week | ||
After 1 year | 365 | 8 hrs | 7.6 hrs |
After 2 years | 730 | 16 hrs | 15.2 hrs |
After 3 years | 1095 | 24 hrs | 22.8 hrs |
After 4 years | 1460 | 32 hrs | 30.4 hrs |
For each year of service, an employee will then accrue their normal leave (ie the 20 days in the earlier example) and any additional leave for years of service.
Leave Accrual for 5 Years of Service
When an employee has been working for five years, you can create a separate ‘normal’ leave category with an accrual of 25 days of leave and move them over to this category to accrue going forward.
