Overview
If you opted into Flare on your first login, you’ll have several options for nominating your preferred super fund, which are outlined below.
- Select one of the advertised funds;
- Select your own super fund;
- Select the default fund for your employer; or,
- Select a self-managed super fund
PAYG employees who have not opted into Flare, and other users who are entitled to nominate a superannuation fund can continue to do so following the usual process in the Tax & Super section of their Profile tab.
Select an Advertised Fund
The Choose your Super screen will show two advertised super funds, as well as the option to choose another fund (ie nominate your own fund).
If you choose one of the two advertised funds, click Choose this fund and then review the details that appear in the following screen. The exact layout of this screen will vary depending on the fund, so please make sure that you read and acknowledge all statements carefully before finalising your application.
A Product Description Statement (PDS) is available for download from the main Choose your Super screen, or at the top of the Details screen.
IMPORTANT: The funds being advertised are not recommendations or endorsements by Astute Payroll or Flare, and have not been preselected on your behalf by your employer or agency. If you already have an existing fund, or wish to choose your own, make sure you click Choose another fund.
You can access a full list of available super funds from the APRA website by clicking the link in the Choose another super fund box.
Choose Another Super Fund
If you are choosing your own fund, you will be able to nominate your own fund, selecting a fund type from the first dropdown:
The remaining fields that appear on-screen will depend on the fund type you are nominating.
Select your own fund
If you are nominating your own super fund, you’ll need to search for the USI or the name of the fund in the Superannuation Fund Name field. We recommend entering the USI, as this is unique to each fund, whereas the name of the fund may display differently in different places. Entering the USI will ensure that you are linking the correct fund.
If you have a member number, you can enter this in the Member Number field.
You’ll also need to enter your name to authorise the information that you are provided, then click Save and continue.
Select the Default Fund of your Employer
If you haven't previously set up your own super fund, you can opt into the default fund that is used by your employer, if they offer this option.
To confirm the fund that your employer offers as a default, please contact them directly then, to nominate this fund, select the Default Fund option from the top dropdown and follow the prompts.
If your employer hasn’t nominated a default fund, you won’t be able to select this option.
Select a Self Managed Fund
To nominate a self managed super fund, you’ll need to select Self Managed Fund from the dropdown, then follow the steps below:
- Enter the Fund name and ABN.
- Enter the Electronic Service Address Alias (ESA). The ESA is available from the SMSF, so you will need to contact the administrator of the fund if you need to confirm this information.
- Enter the full Fund Address details. All address fields except for Fund Address Line 2 are mandatory.
- Enter the bank account details for the SMSF.
- Enter your name to authorise the information that you are provided.
- Click Save and continue.
