Dashboard Widget

The EOFY Shortcuts Dashboard widget is designed to make navigating through the system during EOFY even easier. It contains links to a number of reports that will assist you with your EOFY processes. 

The widget will be visible for all Portal Administrators shortly and will be visible until 31 July 2025.

Pay Item Balance Report Includes Starting Balances

If you have moved to Astute Payroll or started using our payroll module part way through the financial year, you may have entered starting balances from your old payroll system.

You can filter the Reports > Payroll > Pay Item Balance report using the Report Settings filters to:

• Include starting balances
• Only show starting balances
• Don’t include starting balances

Use the Pay Item Balance Report to check the starting balances entered in your entity and to balance the payroll you have completed in Astute independently from these starting balances.

Export your Pay Item Configuration to CSV

To check the STP Report Settings for your Pay Items, go to Config > Payroll > Pay Items, click the export icon in the top right and select Export Detailed CSV. 

The .csv file will summarise the configuration details for each Pay Item, including the STP Report Settings.

The STP Reporting Settings fields you have configured for each of your pay items, deductions, superannuation items, leave items, and contributions will be used to categorise the earnings that you report through STP. Any Payment Summary Settings configured on your items will not be used.

EOFY Glossary

ATO	Australian Tax Office
EOFY	End of Financial Year
Employment Termination Payment (ETP)	A lump sum payment made to an employee when they cease working for you which is taxed at different rates depending on employee age and length of employment For more information, visit the ATO website.
Fringe Benefit Amount (FBA)	The total taxable value of all fringe benefits (other than excluded fringe benefits) provided to an employee (and to associates of an employee) during a Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year For more information on Fringe Benefit Tax, visit the ATO’s FBT page. Payee	The individual or organisation that receives a payment For the purposes of this document, payee and employee are the same.
Reportable Employer Superannuation Contribution (RESC)	Contributions you make on behalf of an employee, such as Salary Sacrifice contributions, or Additional Employer super contributions RESC amounts: are regarded as reportable employer superannuation  do not include super guarantee contributions or contributions you make under a collectively negotiated industrial agreement can affect your employees' tax liability. STP	Single Touch Payroll
STP Finalisation	Instructs the ATO that submissions have been finalised and no more payments will be made to the Employee for the Financial Year
STP Update event	Used to: report changes to the employee YTD totals previously reported to the ATO report STP totals that have not been reported via a pay run (eg YTD from a previous system that were not previously reported via STP) close off and submit your final STP data for the financial year
