Overview
The communication settings for a portal are managed from Config > System Setup > Communication Management.
The options that appear in the Communication Management screen will depend on whether SMS communication has been enabled for your portal. Each portal will, at least, include Email Communication and Self Service options.
Email Communication Configuration
To enable email communications across your portal:

Go to Config > System Setup > Communication Management.

Tick the Enable email communication system wide checkbox.

Click Save.
This allows automated system and scheduled notifications to be sent out to users if they have a valid email address entered in their user profile.
You’ll also have the option to Opt-in email communication for new users which will enable email communications on any new user profiles you create by default.
SMS Communication Configuration
To send SMS notifications in addition to, or instead of, email notifications, you will first need to have the SMS functionality enabled. If you would like this to be enabled, please contact Support for more information.
When the functionality is enabled, you’ll see additional options in Communication Management which are specific to SMS Communication.
To enable SMS communications across your portal:

Go to Config > System Setup > Communication Management.

Tick the Enable SMS communication system wide

Click Save.
This allows SMS-based notifications to be sent to users with a valid mobile phone number in their user profile.
You can also tick the Opt-in SMS communication for new users checkbox to enable SMS communication on any new user profiles that you create by default.
Enable User Self Service
In Config > System Setup > Communication Management, you can tick Allow users to select how they receive notifications. This allows each user to manage their own communication preferences in their own portal.
Users can choose email, SMS or both as the delivery method for system notifications, by ticking the Notification Preference checkboxes in their profile under Personal Details > Contact Details.
